ourMarketDay at Agriculture Summit Africa: Connecting, Learning and Building the Future of Agriculture

The just-concluded Agriculture Summit Africa was more than an event for us at ourMarketDay.com. It was an opportunity to connect, learn, share our vision, and build relationships with people and organisations shaping the future of agriculture in Africa.

We were excited to be present at the summit and to have the opportunity to speak with a large community of farmers, agribusinesses, investors, financial institutions, development organisations, technology companies, government stakeholders, and other industry partners.

Throughout the event, we shared what we are building at ourMarketDay.com — a digital agricultural marketplace connecting farmers, farmer cooperatives, food processors, offtakers, bulk buyers, service providers, and communities.

More Than Connections

One of the biggest takeaways from the summit was the importance of collaboration.

We had meaningful conversations around some of the major challenges affecting agricultural markets, including access to reliable markets, transparent sourcing, financing, logistics, food distribution, and the need to connect producers more efficiently with buyers.

These conversations gave us new insights into how different stakeholders are approaching these challenges and where technology can help create stronger connections across the agricultural value chain.

We also made valuable new networks and opened conversations around potential partnerships, market access, financing, technology, farmer engagement, and community food distribution.

Taking the Conversation Beyond the Summit

At ourMarketDay.com, we believe that agriculture is not only about production. Farmers need markets. Buyers need reliable suppliers. Food processors need access to raw materials. Communities need affordable and convenient access to food.

This is why we are building a marketplace that brings these different participants closer together.

Through our Request for Quote (RFQ) system, offtakers can connect with verified farmers, cooperatives, and processors, receive offers, and close sourcing transactions through the platform.

Our Weekly Community Farmers Market and bulk food-sharing model also creates an opportunity for urban communities to come together, place orders in bulk, and connect with farmers and food processors.

The Journey Continues

Agriculture Summit Africa reminded us that there is a large ecosystem of people working toward a more productive, inclusive, and connected agricultural sector.

For us, the summit was another step in the journey — new conversations, new insights, new relationships, and new possibilities for collaboration.

We are grateful to everyone who took the time to speak with us, ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about what we are building.

The conversations may have started at the summit, but we believe the real work begins after it.

We look forward to turning these connections into meaningful partnerships and tangible impact across the agricultural value chain.
